在近期,上海燎原双语学校国际课程班完成了各学科期中评估课业展示,同时秋季选修课也如火如荼的开展起来。在小学年级,G2年级的第二单元“贸易集市”为学生们提供了理解“交换制”的机会,欢迎了解近期的校内动态。
国际课程班期中评估课业展示
国际课程班的期中评估顺利结束。下面就跟随笔者了解下语言习得、社会科学、数学、文学等学科的期中评估内容。
The English Division has finished its midterm assessments. Now follow us on a journey to explore more about the midterm projects in the areas of ESL, socialstudies, and mathematics.
期中评估课业展示
学科一:外语(ESL)
10年级C班的期中评估项目贴近学生生活。描述和分析综艺节目的成功原因,合作创作一个崭新的综艺节目,听上去就很有趣和富有创意。
学科老师Thalia的点评如下:
Eric、Jeffrey、Jackson这组学生化身综艺节目制作人,构想了一档名为《明星经纪人》的节目。他们非常有创造力,很有想法。这档节目深度聚焦于一个普通人都很向往但却了解很少的职业。
这些制作人不仅是想要打造一档原创节目,更是想要向大众介绍明星经纪人这一职业,将他们的**和生活做多方位的呈现,这将会有助于消除公众对于这一职业的误解。我认为这一出发点是非常有意义的。
这档节目的概念非常具有吸引力。他们的海报很引人注目,色彩丰富,*括了一些必要的细节部分,例如对于节目内容、类型、赞助商等方面的介绍。
在完成这一期中任务的过程中,学生们展示了自己的创造力,和对社会的责任感以及关爱。
10-3Eric, Jeffrey, Jackson. This group of students planned a variety show called “Star Agent” as producers. They are really creative and innovative.
The show is focused on a profession that fascinates ordinary people a lot but is relatively little known to the public at large.
It is great that the aim of their project is not only proposing an original show but also introducing acareer (star agent) and trying to reveal to the public more details about their work and life, which can dispel the public’s misunderstandings of star agents.I consider it very meaningful. Their conception is appealing.
The poster is attractive and colorful, containing required details such as content, type, and sponsor. The students showed their creativity, responsibility, and care for society in this project.
TimGloria Emma这组学生化身综艺节目制作人,构想了一档名为《学校大逃脱》的节目。尽管市面上已经有逃脱类节目的存在,这组制作人依然展现了他们的创新点。
他们的节目将取景于复旦大学太平洋金融学院,该地目前已被废弃。根据主题选择这一特定地点证明了这组学生检索信息的能力,以及这档节目的切实可行性。
他们的海报很引人入胜,色彩缤纷,介绍了一些必要的信息点,例如节目内容、节目类型、赞助商等方面的信息。
在完成这一期中任务的过程中,学生们的创造力以及他们的团队精神都得以呈现。
10-3Tim, Gloria, Emma. This group of students planned a variety show called “Escape From School” as producers. Although there are existing escape shows, the group has their own innovations. The location of their show is Fudan University Pacific Financial College, which is an abandoned place already. This selection of location shows the students’ great research skills and the feasibility ofthe show. The poster is attractive and colorful, containing required details such as content, type, and sponsor. The students showed their creativity and team spirit in this project.
10年级D班的期中评估选择面广,发挥空间大。同学们模拟旅行社,开发“外国文化之旅”的旅游项目,需要综合各学科的知识,很过瘾。
学科老师Phoebe对同学们的点评如下:
“本次ESL期中项目的主题为“外国文化之旅”。G10-4的同学们4人为一组,模拟成立了旅行社,并以该主题作为开业项目,设计完成了1份为期7-14天的详细的外国出行计划,*括旅行目的地的景点安排、推荐原因、出行方式、餐饮住宿、注意事项、个人费用等,并进行了旅行项目的宣讲会。
通过本次项目,同学们提高了团队协作能力,信息搜集能力,以及实用的外国交通方式和住宿安排能力。每个组通过精心设计,制作了新颖、美观、内容充实的全英Poster,作为旅行项目的宣传海报。
每一位同学都参与了宣讲会,用流利的英语介绍和推荐自己旅行社的旅行项目,锻炼了英语发音、演讲等各方面能力。”
The theme of G10-4ESL midterm project is “A Foreign Cultural Landscape Travel Plan”.Students were divided into four groups and set up model tourism agencies separately. As their agency’s opening project to attract customers, they designed a detailed plan for travel that lasts 7–14 days, which includessight seeing arrangements, transportation methods, food, accommodations, and travel expenses per person. Through this project, students improved their ability forteamwork, information collection, and organization. Each group made a creativeand delicate poster as their promotional material. Each student practiced English pronunciation and speaking ability while taking part in a presentation to introduce and recommend their itinerary.
IEP班级的ESL期中评估把目光转向了更多生活主题。同学们选择一个主题内容,例如教育、汽车、服装、住房,描述这个主题的过去和现在,并预测未来发展趋势。同学们有较多的自由去畅想未来。
Jennifer老师的点评如下:“同学们找出自己喜欢的生活话题,并聚焦到某个问题上,运用所学的语法和词汇来讨论这一话题的过去、现在和将来,让同学们认识到英语的学习不仅仅是考试,而是运用。”
This year, IEP students focused on life topics such as education, automobiles, fashion, and buildings.
As Jennifer said, “They were supposed to describe what happened in the past,what they look like now, and what will happen in the future. They will use the grammar and vocabulary for their project. The project aims to let them know that English is more than examinations. English is meant to be used.”
学科二:社会科学
9年级A班和B班的社会英语布置给同学们的期中评估是创造一个新的节日。在学习完节日的相关内容后,同学们合作完成新节日的设计和组织,其中不乏出现了很好的创意。
Jennifer老师的点评如下:“这是社会英语每年都会做的项目,旨在让同学们探究节日庆祝背后的意义,并发挥想象力,独自制造一个庆祝节日,并列出组织这个活动所需要的所有任务,培养同学们组织能力、社交能力和协作能力。”
This year, Grade 9 students worked hard on their midterm project, which was about creating a new holiday. After learning about holidays, they were supposed tocome up with a brand new holiday and make a plan to celebrate it. There were alot of excellent ideas.
As Jennifer mentioned, “Students do the project every year. The purpose is to encourage them to inquire into the meanings of acelebration. They need to create a new holiday and list all of the tasks for acelebration. Students have the opportunity of developing their organizational skills, social skills, and collaboration skills.”
11年级经济学科目的期中评估直接让同学们设计一款产品。
学科老师Sage点评到:“这些海报是11年级的学生为经济学的期中项目而制作的。为了设计一款产品,学生们学着如何进行市场调查,根据调查结果设计产品特色,并制作海报用以宣传。学生们在这个项目里成功地将经济学知识与现实世界起来,并且发挥出了非常出色的想象力和创造力。”
These posters were madeby G11 students for their midterm economics project.
In order to design aproduct, students learned how to do market research, design product features based on the results of research, and make posters for advertisement.
During this project, students successfully related knowledge of economics to the realworld and showed excellent imagination and creativity.
学科三:数学
在11年级的期中评估中,同学们要成立小组合作完成项目。老师会准备5个项目选择,供同学挑选自己感兴趣的,目标是让同学们探究数学领域的问题。
5个项目分别是:幸存者偏差、最优化、*含函数或方程的艺术作品、数学是被创造出来的还是被发现的、微积分的发展。
项目的目标是让同学们更深入理解数学的本质,培养自发提问的能力;提供给学生各种机会来了解数学的美、力量和实用价值,并让学生们自信地展示他们在数学上的成长;鼓励学生对技术(Geogebra)作为数学工具的发现、使用和欣赏。一些小组的海报完成的非常好。
During the mid-term assessment period, Grade 11 mathematics students did agroup project to explore the one of five topics that most interests them. Eachgroup project has produced a written poster that involved the investigation of anarea of mathematics.
The five topics were 1) survivorship bias, 2) optimization,3) artwork of functions or equations, 4) whether mathematics is invented ordiscovered, and 5) the development of calculus.
The purpose of the exploration wasto develop students’ personal insight into the nature of mathematics and developtheir ability to ask their own questions about mathematics; provide studentswith the opportunity to experience for themselves the beauty, power, andusefulness of mathematics; provide opportunities for students to show, with confidence, how they have developed mathematically; and encourage students todiscover, use, and appreciate the power of technology (Geogebra) as amathematical tool. Several groups have produced some fabulous posters.
学科四:文学
11年级的文学课让同学们读了《麦田里的守望者》,Owen老师给同学们提供了各种不同的项目选择,他对11-2班的Tina和Am的期中作品记忆深刻。
以下是Owen老师的点评:“从艺术作品角度来为Holden设计了一本拼贴本,受到了高度赞赏。正如Owen老师说道,两位同学在期中评估中面临的挑战是如何从Holden的角度考虑,他会收集哪些素材做拼贴本。
她们制作的拼贴本设计精美,每份素材都与主人公有关,并通过艺术加工,配以手绘图和文字,分别做在不同的单页上,并将这些单页内容放到了一只梦幻般的散漫亮粉的蓝色盒子里。
细心的她们还在盒子上写了卡片,提醒翻阅者带上手套,这说明了她们对自己作品的自豪。翻开这本拼贴本,Tina和Amy书写了“回忆册”,并标明学校名称,再用卡片写出了小说中的人物。“红色狩猎帽”醒目画出来,再开始介绍人物关系。后面出现了纽约的内容。
接下来是关于Edmont宾馆的部分。她们富有智慧地运用了艺术艺术道具来展示突出的钱*,Sunny从里面拿了5美金的内容。同样的机智也体现在了对于“烟”的相关内容展示。后面的内容还*括了旋转木马。
最后,在拼贴本里,我们看到了Holden躺在医院病床上。这份期中项目,Tina和Amy为以后的所有学生建立了标准。她们所花的时间和努力值得肯定。这不仅仅是一份课业,这是艺术!”
Tina and Amy chose tocreate Holden’s Scrapbook as their mid-term project for the Fall Semester. The challenge was to compile a scrapbook of memorabilia that Holden might have collected, or come across, during his travels throughout the novel The Catcherin the Rye.
All of the memorabilia is beautifully presented with captions whereit is introduced, how it relates to Holden, and the page which connects it tothe book. Well-written paragraphs explain each items’ significance. The projectwas presented in a glittery blue box with a ribbon tied around it. An envelope,telling you to put on the gloves inside, is included so as to handle the scrapbook carefully.
It is a sign that the students take pride in their work,and it shows. Upon opening the box, renderings of Tina and Amy rest under thetitle “Memorial Album”. The next entry is a tribute to Pencey Prep School and includes playing cards introducing all of the main characters that are found peppering the novel.
The ‘red hunting hat’ is displayed prominently on the following slide as mentions of it litter the text. After that, the slide navigates the interlocking relationships, primarily love interests between Holden, the girls he loves, and the other suitors.
Then, the ducks make their way into the scrapbook as the girls visit Central Park and craftily produce awrite-up hidden under the New York City skyline. Because the Edmont Hotel isfull of undesirables, a window has been created that needs opening to enterthat sordid world.
Again, a clever use of props is used in the form of a wallet protruding from the slide and Sunny is taking $5 out of it. Sally, who Holden wants to run away with is introduced on the next slide. There is a clever useof a prop on the following page as cigarettes are smoked throughout the novel.
A recreation of a carousel, with movable horses, adorns the next page. Lastly,we find Holden in his hospital bed, weaving tales from his bed. This mid-termproject that Tina and Amy handed in early set the bar for the rest of the students in the future.
The time and effort that went into this is noteworthy and much appreciated as it was more than just a class assignment; it is a work of art!
“4类27项”国际课程班丰富秋季选修课
新学期,燎原的选修课精彩纷呈,老师们和同学们各自创建了俱乐部,一起度过充实有意义的课外活动时光。
Since the new school year, teachers and students at English Division has been doing a variety of electives and clubs. It’s awesome to see that they enjoy them every day.

Sports: American football, field hockey, basketball, soccer, badminton, Pingpang, HIIT, bridge card.
艺术类:彩铅、3D设计、乐队、舞蹈团、视频制作、ACG动漫研究、游戏与手工
Arts: color pencil, 3D Design, school band, dance group, unique video, ACG, games and handicraft.
STEM类:国际象棋、办公自动化软件、天文、数学俱乐部
STEM: chess, Microsoft Office, astronomy, math club.
人文社科:电影研究、辩论、演讲、杂志、校园广播、生活语言应用、哲学、侦探社
Humanities: film studies, debate, speech, magazine, school broadcast, language in use, philosophy, detective agency.
G2单元活动举办校园集市启迪学生理解“交换制”
“交换制对社区有益”,这是燎原双语学校二年级学生正在进行中的单元中心思想。以此理念为核心,学生们在体育馆内举办了一场盛大的“校园集市”活动。
校园集市
通过校园商店的开设,评估学生在本单元的学习。学生会从学校或家中收集使用过的一些物品,并且给这些商品标价并出售作为个人的任务。
他们以小组形式进行分工合作,为校园商店的设计宣传海报、学生会向学校中的其他班级做一个口头式的广告等等,最后他们会以小组的形式用适当中英文来出售自己收集的物品。
“交流、倾听、思考"在集市中,面对多变的环境,学生需要迅速做出反应,通过货币与物品的交换,帮助孩子们理解欲望与需求之间的和交换系统的组成部分等。
集市中,学生们自备20-30现金来进行交易模拟,而最后义卖的盈利将统一捐赠给公益机构。根据现场实地观察,本次集市“销路”非常旺盛,许多物品一经上市就迅速销售一空。
