专业概况

在这里学什么？

Nuclear medicine technologists conduct nuclear medicine scans of a person’s body using radioactive material called radioisotopes. Radioisotopes are typically ingested or injected, travelling through the affected area to create images of the inside of your body. These images can diagnose life-threatening diseases such as cancer and help monitor a patient’s health.

What you will study

This degree equips you with specialised scientific knowledge and gives you practical medical radiation experience using world-class facilities and technology. You will:

Build essential clinical reasoning and patient management skills using our state-of-the-art radio pharmacy labs located on campus.

Develop communication and interpersonal skills to provide a high level of care to patients.

Gain professional nuclear medicine skills, learning how to use imaging technology and radioisotope to diagnose illnesses and determine the best course of treatment for patients.

Develop critical research skills that will set you in good stead for life-long learning in the field of nuclear medicine.

Career opportunities

Our nuclear medicine graduates are very employable and highly regarded. Many of our graduates have advanced rapidly in their careers and are now in management roles in Australia and overseas.

UON nuclear medicine graduates are qualified to register and work as nuclear medical technologists, working closely with patients and other health professionals to diagnose life-threatening diseases such as cancer and help monitor a patient’s health. You may find yourself working in clinical positions in private and public hospitals, in upper management roles such as director of services, or in higher education and research roles.

为来自中国的学生设计 There are a number of ways to gain entry to undergraduate programs at the University of Newcastle. You may be considered for admission on the basis of: a completed NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC) or equivalent – irrespective of age of qualification; completed or partly completed higher education studies; TAFE/VET qualifications, with a minimum of a completed Certificate III (AQF level 3), excluding the Bachelor of Nursing; TAFE/VET qualifications, with a minimum of a completed Certificate II (AQF level 2) in conjunction with meeting additional performance based selection criteria for the Bachelor of Music and associated combined degrees; completion of a recognised enabling program within a 10 year period preceding admission to the University; overseas qualifications equivalent to Australian studies. English language requirement: TOEFL paper-based test score of 500; TOEFL internet based score of 60; IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0; PTE GSE score of 50; Cambridge English: Advanced score of 52.
