The study of Information technology (IT) is all about developing, building and maintaining software technology systems to meet the challenges faced by business and society. At the University of Newcastle, we train IT graduates to be technically savvy, creative and flexible.
Our information technology majors are designed to meet industry's evolving IT needs. You can focus your courses around business technology, learning to design and manage complex software systems critical for big corporations and government. You’ll be equipped to develop cloud-computing solutions or specialize in IT security. If your passion is media and entertainment you could learn to create exciting new games and 3D animations, devise new content delivery platforms or work for a digital media agency. Or, study systems development and learn to create apps and programs for just about any industry: manufacturing, healthcare, social enterprise, renewable energy, education.
What you will study
Develop core skills within information technology, such as building software that uses complex databases and sophisticated web interfaces suitable for a whole range of applications – from the corporate office to the mobile phone. You will study courses in:
In the third year of your degree you can undertake a major industry-linked project spanning two courses across both first and second semester.
Majors
Interactive Media Major
With digitization of many industries such as entertainment, marketing, advertising and creative industries, there is a strong demand for IT professionals with knowledge and skills in web design; and digital media and content.
Business Technology Major
Businesses today rely more and more on technology solutions to function and compete. Students who study the Business Technology major will focus their degree on the use of IT to support corporations.
Systems Development
IT systems play a critical role in organizations and businesses. IT professionals with skills to design, develop, deploy, maintain and integrate software and provide IT solutions are critical in every industry.

为来自中国的学生设计 There are a number of ways to gain entry to undergraduate programs at the University of Newcastle. You may be considered for admission on the basis of: a completed NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC) or equivalent – irrespective of age of qualification; completed or partly completed higher education studies; TAFE/VET qualifications, with a minimum of a completed Certificate III (AQF level 3), excluding the Bachelor of Nursing; TAFE/VET qualifications, with a minimum of a completed Certificate II (AQF level 2) in conjunction with meeting additional performance based selection criteria for the Bachelor of Music and associated combined degrees; completion of a recognised enabling program within a 10 year period preceding admission to the University; overseas qualifications equivalent to Australian studies. English language requirement: TOEFL paper-based test score of 500; TOEFL internet based score of 60; IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0; PTE GSE score of 50; Cambridge English: Advanced score of 52.课程信息
