Pittsburg State University’s Family & Consumer Sciences major provides students the opportunity to select from four option areas: Community and Family Services, Early Childhood Development, Fashion Merchandising, or Interior Merchandising.

The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences at Pittsburg State University addresses the critical issues of today and tomorrow in Child Development, Consumer Education, Family Relationships, Housing and Interiors, Merchandising, and Nutrition and Healthy Living. Further, the department’s educational programs and experiences guide students to develop the professional and life skills they need in order to function effectively in their daily living and working environments.

All Family and Consumer Sciences programs have a common theme: each, in some way, addresses the social, physical, and economic well-being of individuals and families as they function in their communities at home and around the world. The programs in the department focus on the fundamental building blocks of human existence—food, shelter, clothing, human relationships, commerce, and family life.

Students in this program earn a significant number of scholarships.

为来自中国的学生设计 High School Academic Records: A minimum GPA (grade point average) of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) in high school and have earned a high school diploma; International College/University Academic Records: A minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) in an accredited international post-secondary institution (college/university); U.S. College/University Academic Records: A minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) if transferring from an accredited U.S. college with at least 24 credit hours (approximately one year of college work). English Language Requirements: TOEFL score of at least 520 (paper) or 190 (computer) or 68 (internet); IELTS score - Overall band of 6.0 (with a minimum score of 5.0; PTE Overall score of 47.
