在这里学什么?Pittsburg State University's Modern Languages major provides students the opportunity to select from four emphases: French Language and Culture, French Teacher Certification, Spanish Language and Culture, and Spanish Teacher Certification.
A Modern Languages undergraduate degree will provide you with a broader understanding of the culture of your chosen language with exposure to historical, literary, and social artifacts of that culture. The program is designed with language fluency in mind. Our faculty have designed a robust regimen of coursework to improve students’ speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. Pittsburg State provides intermediate upper-level students (4th semester and above) with intense weekly conversational sessions with a native speaker. Students in these sessions quickly improve their language skills, and gain a better appreciation for the culture. The teacher certification emphasis also prepares students to teach at the middle or secondary level.
French Language and Culture Emphasis
A Modern Languages undergraduate degree with an emphasis in Language and Culture will provide you with a broader understanding of Francophone culture through its primary manifestation: language. The Language and Culture emphasis is designed with language fluency in mind. Our faculty have designed a robust regimen of coursework to improve students’ speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. But our program doesn’t stop here. Students will also gain exposure to historical, literary, and social artifacts of French-speaking cultures.
French Teaching Emphasis
The B.A. in Modern Languages in French Teacher Certification seeks to develop a broader understanding of Francophone cultures through their primary manifestation: language. In addition to improving the skills of speaking, listening, reading, and writing, our courses expose students to historical, literary, and social artifacts of French-speaking cultures.
Spanish Language and Culture Emphasis
The Modern Languages undergraduate degree in Spanish Language and Culture seeks to develop a broader understanding of Hispanic cultures through their primary manifestation: language. In addition to improving the skills of speaking, listening, reading, and writing, our courses expose students to historical, literary, and social artifacts of Spanish-speaking cultures.
Spanish Teaching Emphasis
The B.A. in Modern Languages in Spanish Teacher Certification seeks to develop a broader understanding of Hispanic cultures through their primary manifestation: language. In addition to improving the skills of speaking, listening, reading, and writing, our courses expose students to historical, literary, and social artifacts of Spanish-speaking cultures. In addition to courses in language, literature, and writing, students also take courses in teaching methodologies, in psychology, and in professional education so that they learn how to teach language, literature, and writing in Spanish. Students will also spend their last semester teaching under the supervision of an experienced, licensed teacher.
