一、Essay Competition

Hello everyone. I am Ruby, Grade 10 Literature teacher in the Canadian program and also the manager of the Newspaper Club at Liaoyuan. 大家好，我是Ruby，是在十年级教授加拿大文学的老师，同样也是杂志社的管理人。

Recently the Newspaper Club ran an essay competition as part of Liaoyuan’s Future Week. This week focused on students wondering and learning about the future, and our essay competition asked students, “What is your version of the future?”

最近杂志俱乐部经营了一个散文竞赛作为燎原未来一周的一部分。这一周集中于关于学生对于未来这个主题，有疑惑的并且向学习的东西，并且我们的竞赛会要求学生，“你未来的人生规划和版图是什么?”

Our club received many entries, some about the future of technology, some about students’ own future careers, even the future of sleep.

我们的俱乐部收到了很多条目，有些写的是关于未来的技术，有些是写关于学生未来的职业，甚至有的人写关于未来的睡眠。

Rosemary and Sissi from Grade 10 are each now going to read a small part of their essay for us, and explain their ideas in Chinese.

Hello everyone, my name is Sissi and this is the second year I have studied in liaoyuan and now I have become a high school student. I still remember last time I stood on this stage was a summer. I was wearing a short blue dress and a white shirt. At that time, I was a grade nine junior student. Everyday I lived happily and carefreely. Every weekend, I had plenty of time to play and dream. But since now, I have realized I can’t do that anymore. We have more assignments to do. The concepts have become more tough and uneasy. It needs time to understand and remember. You can’t play trick and idle everyday anymore. The stress is more than before. I want to go back to the past but I couldn’t. I must go forward and try to achieve my dream. Our high school life had just begun. Don’t get discouraged. Let’s enjoy our unique life.

There were so many creative ideas that it was hard to choose winners!

她们有很多有创意的想法，所以很难决定谁的更好。

Our editors, Kevin, Richard, Diana and Crystal from Grade 11, and Elaine from Grade 10, liked the entries that were original, insightful and showed deep thinking about the future.
