上海燎原双语学校国际部成功举办第二届单词拼写大赛,我们很高兴的看到双语班的孩子们在拼写比赛中体现出的勇气,我们感到十分自豪,胜利属于每一位同学!
A champion effort by all learners! We are very proud of the bilingual learners for being courageous risk takers throughout the spelling competition.
燎原双语学校第二届单词拼写大赛
Grade1
一年级的学生个个非常努力,也取得了H-U-G-E(大大的)的成功。我们为作为一年级学生感到骄傲,因为我们在比赛中很努力,很好地实践了勇于尝试。18位同学参加比赛,竞争非常激烈。在阅读和语音比赛之后,比赛开始向学习者提出更具挑战性的单词,这些单词有“魔术E”或“不发音的”字母,来缩小最后几名的范围。六名胜出者奋力拼搏,终于有了胜出者。班级中胜出的同学每位参赛者都获得了参与奖和一个小礼物.前三名是是Chris Yu(1-5班),Mango Li(1-3班)和Selena Sun(1-2班)。祝贺所有参与的同学——你们努力学习,都是赢家。
The grade 1 learners studied hard to be part of the second spelling bee and we had h-u-g-e success. As a grade, we are so proud of our learners for practicing so hard and being risk-takers during the competition. We started with a group of 18 learners and the competition was fierce. After many rounds of words from the reading list and phonics list, we started to challenge the learners with more challenging words that had a ‘magic e’ or ‘silent’ letters to narrow it down. Six learners battled it out and finally, we had our winners. Every learner received a participation award and a small gift for being their in-class champions. Our final three learners were Chris Yu (Class 5), Mango Li (Class 3) and Selena Sun (Class 2). Congratulations to everyone who participated- you worked hard and are all winners.

二年级拼字比赛取得了成功。我们选择了盲测孩子们,事先他们没有给到单词列表复习。首先,我们给每个班的每位同学做了拼写测试。每个班的前三名入围。英语课本中的单词难不倒九个入围者,所以我们从UOI单元中找更难的单词。当决赛选手减到三名学生时,我们迎来了拼写。“Wednesday”这个词对这三名学生来说太难了。前三名同学都是优胜者,并获得奖品。参加拼字比赛的每位参赛者都获得了参加证书。恭喜2年级Hansen, Yo-yo, Simba, Nemo, Larry, Rosy……以及我们的前三:Julie, Jo-Jo和 Lawrence。非常棒!
The grade 2 spelling bee was a success. We chose a blind format to test the children in that they were not given a list of words to study ahead of time. First, we gave a spelling test to everyone in their respective classes. The top three scores from each class went on to compete in the spelling bee. The group of nine finalists easily spelled every vocabulary word from their English text, so we moved onto more difficult words from our UOI units. When these words reduced the finalists to three students, we started spelling days of the week. ‘Wednesday’ proved to be too difficult for all three students. All three were crowned winners and received prizes. Every participant in the spelling bee received a certificate for participation. Congratulations to all of our top spellers of grade 2: Hansen, Yo-yo, Simba, Nemo, Larry, Rosy…and our three final winners: Julie, Jo-Jo, and Lawrence. Great job everyone.

三年级、一年班和二年级的学生都参加了拼写比赛,我们选的单词是会出现在即将到来的英语考试中。每班八组。学生们跃跃欲试,望着他们的新队友和对手,然后拼写比赛开始,1A会被给到**个词。如果他们没有正确地拼出这个单词,就传递到1b,然后是2a,2b,3a以此类推,直到出现正确回答**。然后,下一个小组将会拼写一个新单词。看到学生们如此自信地处理这么多棘手的单词,也很高兴看到他们在团队中**得很好,找出正确答案。这是一项非常有竞争力和又令人愉快的活动,一些队仅在七轮比赛中就获得六分的好成绩。
Grade 3, class 1 and 2 also participated in their own spelling bees, featuring words which may appear in their imminent English exams. The four groups in each class were respectively halved, forming eight teams. The students eyed up their new team mates and opponents, then spelling commenced, with team 1A facing the first word. If they failed to spell the word correctly, it passed on to 1B then 2A, 2B, 3A and so on, until eventually it was answered correctly. Then the next team in the cycle would have the chance to spell a new word. It was pleasing to see the students tackling so many tricky words with such confidence, and also to see them working so well in teams to work out the correct answer. It was a nicely competitive and also enjoyable exercise, with some teams racking up six points in only seven rounds.
