在这里学什么?A nationally accredited program, the Bachelor of Science in Recreation Services, Sport and Hospitality Management offered by the Department of Health, Human Performance and Recreation prepares students to work in the ever-growing field of recreation service and sport and hospitality management areas. In addition to the core, students complete an emphasis in either Community and Worksite Wellness, Hospitality Management, Recreation and Sport Management, and Therapeutic Recreation. About Degree
Unique to the Major in Recreation Services, Sport and Hospitality Management is the opportunity to complete one of the specialty areas of emphases:
The Community and Worksite Wellness emphasis prepares students to advocate and create a culture of wellness both in a community setting as well as the workplace. Wellness coordinators often focus on healthy eating, physical activity, reduction in tobacco use, stress management, fitness programs, use of preventive screenings, programs and services, and improved physical environments (such as walking paths, healthy food choices and nutritional information provided on site).
The Hospitality Management emphasis provides students with the skills needed to be professionals in the hospitality field. Students completing this emphasis will be able to plan, execute, and evaluate events and meetings as well as begin the management track in casinos, resorts, spas, and other related travel and tourism enterprises.
The Recreation and Sport Management emphasis provides students with the skills needed to serve leadership, supervisory, and management roles in city, park and recreation capacities and other leisure service agencies and sport industries.
The Therapeutic Recreation emphasis equips students for supervisory and leadership positions in various private and community-based health care facilities delivering care to individuals with various disabilities. Completing the Therapeutic Recreation emphasis qualifies students to sit for the National Council on Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) Exam. This program includes a minor in Psychology, Gerontology, or Public Health.
Career Options
Students completing the Major in Recreation Services, Sport and Hospitality Management will have the knowledge and ability to work in such positions as:
City/community park and recreation services
Private and community-based health care facilities for individuals of all ages with various disabilities
Wellness delivery settings in communities, in private corporations, and in hospitals
