As 2014 comes to a close, I wanted to write a quick note to our students. First of all, it has been a pleasure to work with the Newspaper Club this semester. It is wonderful to see all the hard work you guys have done and how much it has paid off. The Newspaper looks very professional and is a good representation of our school.

I have enjoyed getting to know many students here in my first year of Liaoyuan. One thing that has stood out is the passion many of you have for the things you enjoy. From the Art and Dance Club to the Music Club, from the Hackerspace to the Video Production Club, you have involved yourselves in the school and created some amazing things so far. I am looking forward to seeing what you will be able to create in the next half of the year.

As you get older, always remember to keep the passion, excitement, and creativity alive. Be willing to go outside your comfort zone and try new things. As Joseph Campbell once said, “Passion will move men beyond themselves, beyond their shortcomings, beyond their failures.”
