This exciting degree may lead to a range of career routes, from working as a veterinary nurse in general practice, to opportunities in the field of behaviour and welfare for animal charities or the commercial sector.As well as being accredited by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS), the course is provisionally validated by the Association for the Study of Animal Behaviour (ASAB) as fulfilling the academic requirements for accreditation as a Certificated Clinical Animal Behaviourist (CCAB). It also provides you with the opportunity to complete the level one practical requirement for certification as a CCAB by ASAB. Visit the ASAB website for more information.The first two years of your studies are completed at the Clifton campus, where our pre-clinical facilities are based, with some days spent at Bristol Veterinary School in Langford. In year one you will learn the fundamental concepts of anatomical science, understanding body function and pre-clinical science, and will be introduced to the principles and practice of veterinary nursing.The second year builds upon the basic sciences through classroom-based study in veterinary anatomy. You will also cover anaesthesia and fluid therapy; surgical nursing and theatre practice; medical nursing, diagnostics and therapeutics. You will study the principles of animal ethology, behavioural development and behaviour 'first aid' in practice, focusing on the commonly owned companion animal species.To meet the clinical placement requirements of the RCVS you will spend ten weeks in clinical practice during the vacation in years one and two. Usually, this placement takes place close to your home.Your third year comprises a 42-week placement in first-opinion veterinary practice within a 50-mile radius of the Bristol Veterinary School. 21 weeks of this is spent rotating around our clinics at the Veterinary School. You will also study professional veterinary nursing practice through lectures and online tutorials.In your final year you will study units in applied clinical veterinary nursing and clinical skills in companion animal behaviour. You will also complete a ten-week research project on a topic of your choice, supervised by one or more members of academic staff.Having launched in 2018, this course is undergoing the normal process for validation with ASAB. Full validation is expected in 2020 (subject to satisfying ASAB's conditions) and will apply to all graduates of the course.所属院系

为来自中国的学生设计 The International Foundation Programme (IFP) is for international students whose first language is not English. Run by our Centre for Academic Language and Development, the one-year programme will prepare you for the undergraduate degree of your choice through tailored English language and academic units. Applicants with the Gaozhong Biye Zhengshu (Senior High School Certificate) and Gaokao (Chinese University entrance exam) combined with a successfully completed appropriate foundation programme will be considered for admission to our bachelor's degree courses. Applicants who have successfully completed the first year of a Chinese university degree at a prestigious university will be considered for admission to the first year of our bachelor's degree courses. Students need to have IELTS 6.0 overall with either listening or speaking at 6.5, with no skill below 6.0.课程信息
