专业概况

The need for environmentally sustainable and equitable development is one of the most serious issues facing the contemporary world. Development Studies provides opportunities to study the causes and consequences of unequal development and assess policy options for a more equitable and sustainable future.

Social science provides you with the opportunity to analyse, challenge and gain an insight into theories about life cycle, gender, class, race, work, social justice and social organisation. Social science theories are the result of systematic thinking, observations and reflection, and contribute to political and moral debate in society, rather than dictate precise answers to complex social problems.

The combined program offers students an interdisciplinary understanding of uneven development in the Bachelor of Development Studies with grounding in social science theory and practice from the Bachelor of Social Science. Students will be able to pursue 4 interdisciplinary majors in the Bachelor of Development Studies (Cultures and Citizenship, Environmental Sustainability, Globalisation and Economic Development and Urban and Regional Development) with complementary social majors of Community Welfare and Human Services; Criminology; History; HRM and Industrial Relations; Leisure and Tourism; Linguistics; and Psychology.

为来自中国的学生设计 There are a number of ways to gain entry to undergraduate programs at the University of Newcastle. You may be considered for admission on the basis of: a completed NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC) or equivalent – irrespective of age of qualification; completed or partly completed higher education studies; TAFE/VET qualifications, with a minimum of a completed Certificate III (AQF level 3), excluding the Bachelor of Nursing; TAFE/VET qualifications, with a minimum of a completed Certificate II (AQF level 2) in conjunction with meeting additional performance based selection criteria for the Bachelor of Music and associated combined degrees; completion of a recognised enabling program within a 10 year period preceding admission to the University; overseas qualifications equivalent to Australian studies. English language requirement: TOEFL paper-based test score of 500; TOEFL internet based score of 60; IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0; PTE GSE score of 50; Cambridge English: Advanced score of 52.
