Psychologists can be both health professionals and scientists, undertaking research and gaining insights into human behaviour and mental processes. Our four-year Bachelor of Psychology provides you with the current minimum academic requirements to pursue a career as a psychologist.
The Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology) may also be used as a pathway to the Bachelor of Psychology for students who do not meet the initial entry requirements, as the ATAR (or equivalent) for entry is lower.

The Bachelor of Psychology at CSU can provide the foundation to gain provisional accreditation to practice as a psychologist.
A flexible degree
This degree puts you in control. You can choose to study on campus at Bathurst, Port Macquarie and Wagga Wagga. Alternatively, you can study online, with live and recorded lectures and flexible schedules so you can fit your learning around your other commitments. You may even be eligible to receive credit for prior study and graduate sooner.
Gain a solid foundation for your future career
CSU provides you with a comprehensive degree in psychology. You will acquire knowledge across a range of key areas, including cognition, developmental and social psychology, psychological testing, biopsychology, psychopathology, personality, learning theory and research methodology. After graduation, you'll be able to apply for provisional registration as a psychologist.
Follow your interests
In addition to the compulsory psychology subjects, you will also complete a minor study in another discipline to enhance your study experience. Minors are available in a range of related disciplines, including business, history and politics, justice studies and social welfare. A broad choice of psychology electives is available, including Psychology of Crime, Health Psychology, Psychology of Substance Abuse, Psychology and the Legal System and Psychology of Stress and Trauma. You may also have the opportunity to complete a supervised experience at an international university.
Take your study further

Career opportunities
A four-year psychology degree opens many doors in the workforce. Currently, upon graduation from the Bachelor of Psychology you may apply for provisional registration as a psychologist in Australia. You could then become eligible for general registration as a psychologist with at least two years of supervised practical experience. Alternatively, you may be eligible to progress to an APAC-accredited fifth-year program (followed by one year of supervised practice), or an APAC-accredited fifth and sixth year, which also lead to eligibility for general registration.
Work for health services
Provide counselling and wellbeing services through social welfare positions or, once you have completed your registration, go into private practice.
Support business
Psychology is highly relevant to almost every industry and workplace. Work with large and small companies or consulting firms to provide human resource and organisational wellbeing support and insights.
Future-proof your career
The Australian Government Department of Jobs and Small Business predicts that future job growth for psychologists will be very strong. And with the 2018/19 Good Universities Guide listing Charles Sturt University psychology graduates as having the highest graduate employment rate in the country, the future looks bright for your career in psychology.
