As advances in communication technology redefine our needs, the demand for visionaries and skilled designers is likewise projected to grow and expand.

Designers develop creative, innovative and persuasive strategies to communicate ideas, information and visual stimuli to a wide range of audiences. In this degree you’ll learn to create visual material across a variety of visual formats and channels including broadcast, web, film, television, advertising, publishing, and industry. Study a Visual Communication Design degree at the University of Newcastle and develop a breadth of multi-platform skills enabling you to use visual design to shape the world.

Majors

Animation

The animation major has been designed for students who wish to learn about and/or follow a career path in the areas of 2D animation, 3D animation or motion graphics.

Graphic Communication and Typography

The Graphic Communication Major has been designed for students who wish to learn about and/or follow a career path in the field of Graphic Communication Design. This major facilitates both the broad understanding and design versatility expected of visual communication designers and the high-level understanding of working with typography, text and image, visual identity, print, and publication design required by graphic communication specialists.

Illustration

The Illustration major has been designed for students who wish to learn about and/or follow a career path in the field of illustration. This major provides students with a broad understanding of how illustration operates within the field of Visual Communication Design.

Interaction and UX Design

The Interaction and UX Design Major has been designed for students who wish to learn about and/or follow a career path in the areas of Interaction Design, User Experience, or Game Art & Design.

为来自中国的学生设计 There are a number of ways to gain entry to undergraduate programs at the University of Newcastle. You may be considered for admission on the basis of: a completed NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC) or equivalent – irrespective of age of qualification; completed or partly completed higher education studies; TAFE/VET qualifications, with a minimum of a completed Certificate III (AQF level 3), excluding the Bachelor of Nursing; TAFE/VET qualifications, with a minimum of a completed Certificate II (AQF level 2) in conjunction with meeting additional performance based selection criteria for the Bachelor of Music and associated combined degrees; completion of a recognised enabling program within a 10 year period preceding admission to the University; overseas qualifications equivalent to Australian studies. English language requirement: TOEFL paper-based test score of 500; TOEFL internet based score of 60; IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0; PTE GSE score of 50; Cambridge English: Advanced score of 52.
