The Master of Leadership in Human Services (with specialisations) prepares you to analyse, plan and implement social policies to enhance the quality of the human services field you work in. It also enables you to demonstrate critical, analytical and reflective management skills. You'll gain a high-level understanding of contemporary issues, challenges and future directions for the industry.
Choice of research or coursework
With Charles Sturt University you'll have the option to complete your degree by research or coursework. In the research strand, you'll develop specific skills in research and evaluation by completing core subjects and a research dissertation in an area of interest or relevance to your workplace. If you choose the coursework strand, you'll take a selection of core and elective subjects to augment your professional skills in human services.
Specialise
In addition to the research and coursework options, and a broad-based generic degree, this degree offers three specialisations. You can choose to tailor your studies to management; ecological and social change; or child, youth and family practice.
Flexible online study
If it's flexibility you're looking for, Charles Sturt University has study options to suit you. Choose from full-time and part-time offerings to complement your work and family commitments. Part-time study allows you to implement the knowledge you are gaining directly at your workplace.
Support at every step
Charles Sturt University is a well-established provider of human service education, and our academic staff are highly experienced in social welfare practice. Right from the start of your course, you'll benefit from personal contact and support for your learning needs.
Specializations
Child, Youth and Family Practice
Build on your experience and deepen your knowledge of working with children, young people and their families. Move beyond the process of assessment and the skills around intervening to make critical evaluations and intentional decision-making.
Ecological and Social Change

Management
Working in human services and found yourself managing staff and programs? This specialisation will equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to best perform your leadership or managerial role.
