Studying the Bachelor of Business degree will give you a broad understanding of Australian and global business environments. Through your courses you will gain practical skills and attributes that are highly valued by employers in a range of business and entrepreneurial disciplines including finance, accounting, economics, politics, marketing, leisure and tourism, the legal system, industrial relations and statistics. Our business graduates go on to exciting, stimulating and lucrative careers in the private, government and not-for-profit sectors in Australia and internationally.

What you will study

When you study a Bachelor of Business degree you will establish a firm understanding of the contemporary business environment and undertake studies in a range of disciplines. You'll have the opportunity to select your courses from eight business-related majors.

In your first year of the business degree you will complete courses from a broad range of disciplines. This initial year of business studies gives you a strong grounding in business principles and equips you with a set of core business development skills before you choose your major. You will develop skills in the following areas:

Business majors

The Bachelor of Business degree is designed to allow you to choose from eight majors from a range of business fields. Our majors are at the cutting-edge of business trends and will provide you with the knowledge and experience required in a dynamic, modern workplace.

Entrepreneurship and Innovation

Innovation and entrepreneurship are at the forefront of economic growth both domestically and internationally.

Governance, Policy and Political Economy Major

Globalization has revolutionized the face of business and the parameters within which it is conducted. A major in Governance, Policy and Political Economy prepares the business graduates of tomorrow with the skills and knowledge to manage the complex challenges of a globalized economy.

Human Resource Management Major

The Human Resource Management major considers employees as an organization’s most important assets. Your Bachelor of Business degree will focus on how human resource management links people-related activities to business strategy.

International Business Major

Now more than ever, an understanding of international business practices is crucial for organizational growth, and to maximize your opportunities. When you major in international business at the University of Newcastle, you develop the skills needed to operate in a rapidly changing worldwide marketplace.

Leadership and Management Major

When you study a leadership and management major, you will develop a comprehensive understanding of the complex structure and operations of organizations, while also learning strong planning and leadership skills.

Marketing Major

A major in marketing will broaden your understanding about communicating with customers, as well as delivering goods and services that provide value.

Sports Management Major

The Hunter Region is a hub for a burgeoning community-based and professional sports service industry that operates at regional, national and international levels.

Tourism Major

A major in tourism management prepares business students for an exciting career in the fast-growing global tourism industry. The tourism industry is booming, with more opportunities for entrepreneurial and business activity than ever.

为来自中国的学生设计 There are a number of ways to gain entry to undergraduate programs at the University of Newcastle. You may be considered for admission on the basis of: a completed NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC) or equivalent – irrespective of age of qualification; completed or partly completed higher education studies; TAFE/VET qualifications, with a minimum of a completed Certificate III (AQF level 3), excluding the Bachelor of Nursing; TAFE/VET qualifications, with a minimum of a completed Certificate II (AQF level 2) in conjunction with meeting additional performance based selection criteria for the Bachelor of Music and associated combined degrees; completion of a recognised enabling program within a 10 year period preceding admission to the University; overseas qualifications equivalent to Australian studies. English language requirement: TOEFL paper-based test score of 500; TOEFL internet based score of 60; IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0; PTE GSE score of 50; Cambridge English: Advanced score of 52.
