专业概况
在这里学什么?This degree aims to provide a broad education in mathematics. This includes pure and applied mathematics. This is alongside fundamental and applied physics, enabling students to develop the knowledge and problem-solving skills vital to modern science and technology. Taking a joint honours in Mathematics and Physics at Lincoln allows students to explore the interplay between these two important disciplines, and the ways in which they co-exist and complement each other.
This course is designed to provide a thorough foundation in analytical and numerical methods, practical scientific skills, and research techniques. It gives students the opportunity to develop a range of transferable skills, such as communication and problem-solving.
The four-year MMath course is designed for those seeking to develop advanced mathematical skills. The first three years are common with the BSc (Hons) Mathematics and Physics degree, while the fourth year offers the opportunity to study more advanced topics in greater depth. This year also includes a significant industrial or academic project.

Features
Student as Producer
Student as Producer is a model of teaching and learning that encourages academics and undergraduate students to collaborate on research activities. It is a programme committed to learning through doing. The Student as Producer initiative was commended by the QAA in our 2012 review and is one of the teaching and learning features that makes the Lincoln experience unique.
Placements
The degree is optionally available in a sandwich mode variant. If students choose the sandwich placement option, they can take a year out in industry or external research institution (which can be overseas) between years two and three, providing the chance to gain practical experience. The option is subject to availability. Students will be required to cover their own transport, accommodation, and general living costs during work placements.
Some courses offer students the opportunity to undertake placements. When students are on an optional placement in the UK or overseas or studying abroad, they will be required to cover their own transport and accommodation and meals costs. Placements can range from a few weeks to a full year if students choose to undertake an optional sandwich year in industry (where available). Students are encouraged to obtain placements in industry independently. Tutors may provide support and advice to students who require it during this process.
Your Future Career
The knowledge and skills of graduates in Mathematics and Physics can be applied in careers in the fields of science, education, consultancy, finance, business, and research and development. Some graduates may choose to continue their studies at PhD level.
