Prepare for a career in nutrition, one of today’s fastest growing occupation. You’ll gain a solid foundation in applied nutrition, nutrition education, public policy, and advocacy, nutrition therapy, leadership and management, and food production. A B.S. in Human Nutrition will create a pathway to pursue a number of graduate programs at NSU, including, but not limited to a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Medical Doctor, Master of Science in Nutrition, Master of Public Health, Doctor of Physical Therapy, Physician’s Assistant, Athletic Training, and Exercise and Sports Science.

What You’ll Study

This program will provide you to the essential principles of dietetics, nutrition, and biomedical sciences. Our curriculum includes a strong foundation in anatomy, chemistry, biochemistry, and microbiology to an applied focus, which includes human nutrition and health, dietetics practice, community nutrition programming, and food service management.

How You’ll Learn More

You have the opportunity for immersion in experiential learning, clinical research, global and domestic outreach initiatives, and community-based collaborations. Gain hands-on experience and engage with fellow students and faculty members of the Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine while advancing your skills. Students who complete certain coursework are also eligible to take the certification examination for Nutrition and Dietetics Technician, Registered (NDTR).

Career Opportunities

Completing an undergraduate degree in Human Nutrition can open doors to exciting career opportunities and further graduate studies. Students are well-prepared for positions in public health, business and industry, education and research, health promotion, food and nutrition management and clinical dietetics.
