Programme overview

This innovative distance-learning programme provides a comprehensive theoretical foundation in the areas of human reproduction and development. The programme is designed to appeal to a wide range of postgraduate students, including scientists, nurses and clinicians.

You will study the physiological basis of gamete formation, fertilisation, implantation and pregnancy, and their endocrine control as well as the clinical management of infertility, assisted conception technologies and the diagnosis and management of common fetal abnormalities.

Residential workshops will be held in Bristol, comprising lectures and seminars, as well as case-based group work, practical sessions and assessments. Each distance learning unit comprises online tutorials and lectures, which are assessed by essays and online questions.

Students will also achieve PgCert and PgDip exit awards during this course.

Careers

Students on the programme come from a variety of countries and backgrounds; all have an interest in reproduction, infertility and development or wish to pursue careers in these areas. The vast majority of our clinical students on the master's degree follow the programme for training purposes - for progression and promotion in their chosen discipline, or as a foundation qualification allowing them to specialise in IVF and infertility or obstetrics and gynaecology.

Our clinical graduates use their knowledge and skills to gain research skills to aid publication, develop their medical practices and enhance their expertise in reproductive medicine. Our science graduates have used this master's degree as a springboard to non-clinical or clinical research, including PhD studentships, or to clinical/diagnostic positions, such as clinical embryology. You will also acheive PGCert and PGDip awards in this course.

为来自中国的学生设计 To be considered for admission to a master's degree programme at the University of Bristol, the minimum requirement for entry is an undergraduate (bachelor’s) degree that is equivalent to a UK upper second-class degree (also known as a 2:1). Applicants who hold a four-year bachelor's (honours) degree from a prestigious university with a minimum of 78% will be considered for admission to a master's degree. Students need to have IELTS 6.0 overall with either listening or speaking at 6.5, with no skill below 6.0.
