Programme overview

The Public Law LLM explores issues in public policy and the law. It focuses on the relationship between the pressures that arise from particular areas of public policy, and the role of law in setting the framework for decision-making and as a tool for achieving policy goals.

We offer an exciting and stimulating set of postgraduate law programmes, each of which prepares you for a variety of careers. If you are interested in studying law beyond your undergraduate degree level and want to develop your analytical, research and legal writing skills, you will find Bristol’s LLM to be a challenging and rewarding experience. We have a large and vibrant international community and our LLM students benefit from small class sizes taught by world-renowned experts.

Our LLM programmes give you the opportunity to specialise in a particular area but you can also opt for a broader and more general set of unit choices. In all cases, you are encouraged to explore your chosen areas of law at a deeper level. You will have the chance to see how these legal fields operate in different contexts, considering the relevant issues theoretically and practically and from a range of perspectives.

Careers

This programme will provide you with a strong foundation for a broad range of careers. Graduates go on to act as solicitors, barristers, lawyers and researchers in international and European organisations, such as the United Nations or the European Commission. A number work for NGOs and other agencies. Some graduates go on to further study or research at the University of Bristol or other leading universities.

为来自中国的学生设计 To be considered for admission to a master's degree programme at the University of Bristol, the minimum requirement for entry is an undergraduate (bachelor’s) degree that is equivalent to a UK upper second-class degree (also known as a 2:1). Applicants who hold a four-year bachelor's (honours) degree from a prestigious university with a minimum of 78% will be considered for admission to a master's degree. Students need to have IELTS 6.0 overall with either listening or speaking at 6.5, with no skill below 6.0.
