Do you love animals? Do you dream of career working with them? We love animals, too, and we love educating you about them so you can have a life-long fulfilling career benefitting their well-being, and strengthening the human-animal bond. Earning a bachelor’s degree in Animal Studies at Madonna gives you a solid foundation in the biological sciences, including zoology and animal behavior. You will also gain knowledge in animal ethics and religious views on animals, law and policies, and animal-assisted therapies.

As a requirement with this degree, you also choose from one of many minors, including graphic design, business, criminal justice, and more, to complement your major and enhance your marketability. Through internships at local zoos, humane societies, and wildlife conservation agencies, among others, you gain practical skills needed for a broad range of professional employment opportunities in animal-related non-profit and governmental institutions.

PROGRAM FEATURES

Your degree in Animal Studies will equip you with both fundamental knowledge of zoology and animal behavior, as well as in-depth understanding of individual and societal issues regarding human-animal interactions. Together, we will look at these topics from such academic fields as ethics, law and public policy, and religious studies.

In this program, you will:

Learn ethical approaches and religious conceptualizations regarding non-human animals. Analyze individual and societal aspects of human-animal interactions. Explain the processes of creating animal laws and policies and their impact on the lives of animals. Analyze human impact on environment and propose sustainable solutions Combine the scientific biological knowledge with the content of animal studies. Apply the theoretical knowledge of animal studies in a professional context.

Animal caretaker at zoos, wildlife rehabilitation centers and sanctuaries Animal Cruelty Investigation Officer Administrative coordinator at zoos, wildlife rehabilitation centers and sanctuaries, humane societies, animal control facilities, and animal-related governmental agencies (state departments of natural resources, Federal Wildlife and Fish Administration, etc.) Community organizer for animal causes Communication specialist for zoos, animal welfare and animal protection organizations, and animal-related governmental agencies Documentary film maker for animal welfare and animal protection organizations Graphic designer for zoos, animal welfare/animal protection organizations, and animal-related governmental agencies Spokesperson for zoos, animal welfare/animal protection organizations, and animal-related governmental agencies State or Federal Park Ranger (additional training and/or exams may be required)

为来自中国的学生设计 Current high school students and high school graduates who have not enrolled in a post-secondary institution after high school apply to Madonna as a freshman. Cumulative high school GPA 2.8 or above. Requirement for Undergraduate Admission: TOEFL: 70 (iBT); IELTS: 6; MELAB: 76.
