专业概况

在这里学什么？

A music degree from the University of Bridgeport will provide students with the preparation they need to build a career in today’s music world. UB has been training musicians since 1947. We offer an experienced and dedicated faculty of artist-teachers, the kind of personal attention and advising usually found at small colleges, and the sort of spacious and well-designed facilities typically found at large universities.

Our Bachelor of Arts degree in Performing Arts: Music allows students to study music in the broad context of a liberal arts education, and as part of a double major with another field.

Curriculum

The Performing Arts: Music (B.A) degree program provides a common foundation for all music students

Private lessons on the major instrument each semester of residence (at least 6 credits)

• Four semesters of music theory (12 credits)
• Four semesters of aural theory (4 credits)
• 3 (B.A.) or 4 (B.M.) courses in Music History (9-12 credits)
• Piano study (2 credits or more.)
• One semester of music technology (3 credits)
• Performing in one or more ensembles each semester of residence (at least 3 credits)

Internships & Careers

Performing Arts students are encouraged to pursue credit-bearing internships and have had experiences in arts administration, music business, community music, music education, creative arts therapy, technical theatre, and performance at a variety of organizations in Connecticut and the New York City metropolitan area.

Employment Outlook

Graduates of UB’s music education program are performing and teaching in a wide variety of community music contexts, and currently teaching at school districts around the country, as well as throughout the state, including:

Graduates of UB’s Music Business, Music Performance, and Performing Arts have built successful careers in the performing arts, each as unique as they are. Alumni are performing professionally in a variety of genres, working in every aspect of the music and theatre fields.

Students in the Bachelor of Arts in Performing Arts: Music may take courses within the B.M. program as juniors and seniors, or may complete another minor or major.
