今天,我们为大家分享艾毅幼儿园(远洋校区)大班Ethan妈妈——倪子君女士(以下简称倪女士)的育儿经和家庭故事。

倪女士是一位具有中西融汇的教育者,具有清华大学、加州大学伯克利分校的心理学博士学位教育背景。对教育有着深刻而独到见解的她,陆续将家里的四个孩子全都送进了艾毅双语幼儿园,包括最小的Ethan。她说,正因为我对教育的深刻体察,才为孩子们做出这个选择。

Today, we share the parenting experience and family story of Mrs. Ni Zijun (hereafter referred to as Mrs. Ni), mother of Ethan, who attends Kindergarten at the Ivy Bilingual School Ocean Express Campus. It’s worth mentioning that Mrs. Ni is a Doctor of Psychology from Tsinghua university and University of California, Berkeley.She has her own in-depth and profound insight regarding education and sent all four of her children to Ivy Bilingual Schools. She made this decision precisely because of her unique insight into preschool education.

1、投身抗“疫”公益事业,孩子们给予我支持的力量

My children give me the support necessary to participate in charity during the outbreak

新冠肺炎爆发后,作为北京幸福公益基金会发起人、清华大学幸福科技实验室副主任,倪女士和她的团队也投入到“抗击疫情,心理援助”的公益事业中来。

目前,已经累计为30万人次提供心理危机干预培训,并开设了心理援助热线,以帮助更多的医务人员和患者。

Since the COVID-19 outbreak, Mrs. Ni, founder of the Beijing Happiness Charity Foundation and Deputy Director of Tsinghua University’s H+Lab, has dedicated herself to charity work in “fighting against coronavirus with psychological aid” alongside her team. At present, they have offered training on psychological crisis intervention for 300,000 individuals, and have initiated a psychological aid hotline to assist medical staff and patients.

从自身出发做出改变,激励他人

Initiate positive changes and inspire others

巨大的工作量使得妈妈经常加班到深夜。受妈妈的启发,Ethan和哥哥姐姐除了与老师、父母一起学习疫情常识,也努力试着从自身出发做出一些积极的改变。

孩子们努力地为家庭做出自己的贡献。他们画了很多防疫海报,张贴在门口,提醒家里的每一个成员做好自己,对他人负责。

Her children have witnessed her painstaking efforts. In addition to gaining valuable knowledge about the outbreak from their parents and teachers, Ethan and his siblings are also trying their best to initiate positive change on their own.

They are working hard to make their own contributions to the family. Specifically, they have drawn many “epidemic prevention” posters and posted them on the door, reminding family members to take care of themselves and be responsible to others.

积极投身抗“疫”公益事业中

Involving the family in the effort

妈妈也常常和孩子们分享自己的工作进展,全家人每天都会探讨疫情的发展,并在相互鼓励中,给予彼此信心。

受到妈妈的影响,孩子们也积极地投入到疫情公益事业中来。现在,Ethan和她的哥哥姐姐们已经参与到一项一线医护人员子女的在线陪伴计划中。

孩子们通过网络的方式,定期为武汉当地的一线医护人员的子女通过交流、共同学习、互动玩耍等方式带来陪伴,为因父母工作和疫情因素所困的他们带来社交帮助。

Mrs. Ni also shares her work with her children. The whole family discusses the status quo daily and encourages each other to be strong and confident.

Inspired by their mother, Mrs. Ni’s children have also participated in charity work. Now, Ethan and his siblings have joined a project hosted by an online company for children whose parents work on the frontlines providing medical services during the outbreak.

They communicate with these children online and keep them company by studying and playing games together, thereby helping children who have to stay at home alone because their parents have to offer medical assistance on the frontlines every day.

抗疫工作只是一个缩影。倪女士说,事实上,孩子们的成长也在激励着为人父母的我们,让我们彼此鼓励、彼此支持,成为更好的自己。

2、“在择校方面,我有一套独特的考察方法”

倪女士的小儿子Ethan今年在艾毅幼儿园远洋校区读大班了,说起他来,老师们的普遍印象是,这是个活泼而自信的孩子。事实上,他和他的三个哥哥、姐姐都在艾毅长大。

回顾择校之路,倪女士说,她在这方面做了相当扎实的功课。

This year, Ethan is in Kindergarten at the Ivy Bilingual School Ocean Express Campus. His teachers agree that he is an active and confident student. In fact, he and his three siblings are schoolmates.

Looking back upon her school selection journey, Mrs. Ni reflected that she put a fair amount of effort into the process.

观察幼儿园的小气候

Ignore what they say but see what they do

10年前,倪女士一家首次面临家里大女儿的幼儿园择校问题。为此,作为孩子教育方面的主要决策者,倪女士考察了北京的不少幼儿园。

“在观察每一家幼儿园的时候,我最关注的不是幼儿园所宣传的那些优势,而是亲自观察在这个环境里,老师是怎么与孩子交谈的,园长是如何与员工交流的,那些已经入园的孩子,是否由内而外地散发着快乐、自由、自信的状态……”

通过观察幼儿园里的“小气候”,倪女士很快就能判断,这里是否有平等、尊重、友好的氛围。而这也是她在孩子的幼儿教育阶段格外看重的。

A decade ago, Mrs. Ni first encountered the difficulty of choosing an ideal kindergarten for her eldest daughter. As the major decision-maker of her children’s education in her household, Mrs. Ni inspected a number of kindergartens throughout Beijing. “When I observed each kindergarten, I didn’t pay much attention to the so-called advantages advertised by the kindergarten itself. I cared more about how the teachers communicated with their students, how the Principal spoke with faculty and staff, whether the students were exuding happiness, freedom and self-confidence…”

By observing the “microclimate” of the kindergarten, Mrs. Ni was able to quickly assess whether she was witnessing a friendly environment of equality and mutual respect. And this is what she particularly values in an atmosphere for early childhood education.

以孩子的选择为选择

Respect each child’s own choice

大女儿来到艾毅后,度过一段快乐而自在的幼儿园生活。而事实上,倪女士的居住地距离艾毅幼儿园车程至少也要半个小时。尽管如此,倪女士一家还是充分尊重了孩子的选择。

这期间也不是没有过犹豫,家人也曾因为距离原因将Ethan转学到家门口的另一所国际幼儿园。但一年后,因为Ethan的坚持,家人又将Ethan如愿送回到艾毅。

看到孩子发自内心的热爱,以及老师们对孩子的付出,一家人觉得,这一切都值得。

As a result, her eldest daughter has experienced a happy and comfortable kindergarten life at Ivy. In fact, Mrs. Ni spends at least half an hour driving her daughter from their residence to our kindergarten. Regardless, she respects her daughter’s choice.

She had doubts and experienced hesitation as well. But her daughter’s love of Ivy, the teachers’ contribution to her daughter’s life, and the efforts everyone puts towards the same goal make her believe that it is worthwhile.

教师团队的稳定性

Stability of teachers

在幼儿教育行业,外教的稳定性常常是一个头疼的问题。

但当倪女士将小儿子Ethan送到艾毅幼儿园的天,就意外地发现,十年前大女儿班里的外教还在艾毅,并且将成为Ethan的老师!这令他们全家都感到惊喜和感动。

In the field of early childhood education, no institution can guarantee the stability of foreign teachers. But on the first day Mrs. Ni sent her youngest son, Ethan, to an Ivy kindergarten, she was pleasantly surprised that the foreign teacher who taught her daughter ten years ago, was still at Ivy and has now become Ethan’s teacher too.All her family members were surprised and touched.

3、“幼儿园的高度很重要”“The vision of the school is important”

幼儿教育阶段,充满爱、接纳、尊重的教育理念和教育氛围,是非常重要的。

正如倪女士所言,幼儿期的内在发展对于孩子的一生有着重要的影响。

在这个阶段里,如果一个孩子能够成长为自信、自在、勇敢、对世界有自发的好奇心的人,未来,孩子在面对更大的挑战时,便能够以更加舒展的人生状态面对自己、与人合作、做出改变。

“为此,我很感触于艾毅教育的使命:为每个孩子注入改变和激励的勇气。对于幼儿教育阶段,我最期待的,不是孩子掌握的词汇量,和多少运算法则……而是他能够被在多大程度下被鼓励成为一个更优秀和独特的自己。”

Regarding preschool education, creating an education environment consisting of love, inclusion, and respect is critical.

As Mrs. Ni said, the inner development of early childhood has an important impact on a child’s life. At this stage, if a child can grow into a person of confidence, comfort in themselves, and courage, full of spontaneous curiosity for the world, then upon facing greater challenges in the future, they can face them head on and work with others to make a difference in the world.

“I'm touched by Ivy’s mission: to give each student the courage to change and inspire. During the period of early childhood education, what I expect most is not how many words or math formulas my children will master, but how inspired they are to be even better and more unique than before.”

鼓励孩子成为自己

Inspired to be a better and unique self

倪女士说,自己的四个孩子虽然各有特点,但都在艾毅得到了包容与尊重。回顾起来,有很多日常的小事,看似平凡,但都在默默地给与孩子力量。

比如,天性热情的Ethan,每次见到老师都要给一个热情的拥抱,甚至有时候还喜欢“挂”在老师身上,以表达他对老师的喜爱.

对此,Ethan的老师从来都给予他积极的回应,从不会打击他的热情,并及时给予善意的提醒。

Mrs. Ni’s four children are all quite unique, but they have been well accepted and respected at Ivy. Now, three of them have graduated from Ivy.

In reflecting on the past,Mrs. Ni says that many things in their daily life, though seemingly ordinary, have granted her children power and courage. For example, Ethan, a passionate child, hugs his teachers whenever he sees them and occasionally leans on the teachers as a sign of his affection towards them. Ethan’s teachers, on the other hand, always receive him warmly and give positive feedback alongside friendly reminders that guide his behavior.

每天的家庭晚餐时间,一家人最爱讨论的话题是:今天发生了什么好事情?对此,Ethan常常是最踊跃发言的那一个。“他非常愿意谈论每天在艾毅发生的点滴小骄傲和小自豪。”

“有爱、有温度、有原则,我想,这样的教育,我的孩子在艾毅得到了。”

During dinnertime, the family loves to discuss what happened during their day. Ethan is always the most active participant. “He is willing to discuss everything he has been through, because he is almost proud of everything at Ivy.”

“With love, with care and with principle. I believe my children have received such an education at Ivy.”
